The good news is that in the United States the FCC requires the registration of cell towers and antenna locations, which makes it easy to find out where they are.
How can I find out if there is cell phone tower near me?
Luckily for us, there are several websites and apps that you can use to find out this information. One website is called Antenna Search.
Their website says they are a free online resource that pinpoints exactly where cell phone towers and antennas are located all over the United States. To find out where one is near you, visit http://www.antennasearch.com/, and enter an address or a zip code in the search box.
After entering your information, you’ll be taken to another page where you’ll receive a report on the number of towers and antennas in your area.
That's a lot of towers! According to Wikipedia, they are a co-operative public project that collects information about cell towers locations from over 50,000 registered members who contribute to the database daily. Wikipedia also states that as of August 21, 2017, OpenCellID’s database ‘’contained 35.5 million unique cells and 2.1 billion unique measurements’’. ‘There’s an App for that’
Another helpful resource is an app from OpenSignal. According to Wikipedia, OpenSignal is a company that uses crowdsourcing information to provide wireless reporting mapping to the public. OpenSignal gathers information from its user base who use their mobile application.
Using the application, customers can view the crowdsourced information in the form of color-coded maps. The application is available for Android and Apple/IOS and is available on Google Play store or by visiting their website: https://opensignal.com/.
